This generous compilation presents 26 rare and obscure singles from the doo wop era, and while serious collectors of the genre will be delighted with what is here, casual listeners should be aware that most of these tracks were transferred from vinyl sources, since the master tapes have either been lost or damaged for a lot of these releases. This means the sound quality varies from track to track, and things get a bit muddy on a few of the selections. Highlights include the hard-charging, busy arrangement of Lee Ward's "You Are My Sunshine," the Day Brothers' loopy "Cleopatra Brown," and Joe Turner's "Lipstick, Powder & Paint," which seems a little out of place here, since it isn't doo wop so much as straight jump blues.
