Julie Taymor, director of Broadway's The Lion King, and the feature films Frida and Titus, creates an extraordinary kind of visual theatre using puppets, masks and music. The sculptor Nancy Graves--who wears a hard hat, works with cranes and often finds her material on the street--gives a dramatic introduction to how sculptors work with balance, often in gravity defying ways. Carrie Mae Weems, the photographer and folklorist, shows how to use composition and content to create meaning in a photograph. William Wegman also helps out by focusing on one of his playful Weimaraner dogs!
