Echoes Silence Patience & Grace By Foo Fighters
Saturday November 17, 2007 in Music
Ten years. A decade. One tenth of a century. Three thousand six hundred fifty days! That might not seem like the longest stretch of time, but then again, where were you ten years ago? How far have you journeyed since then? What have you seen? How much have you changed? Ten years can signify a lot, and the "Foo Fighters" have proved it.
Since their first release in 1997 "The Colour and The Shape" these guys have done quite a bit of growing. Dave Grohl, you know the guy from "Nirvana" (some other semi-famous band) and occasional extra on projects ranging from Jack Black's super duo "Tenacious-D" and the edgy but brilliant "Queens of the Stone Age" plays the role of frontman like no other. His vocals are meaningful, powerful and at times very spiritual. Dave has proven himself as a cross genre music icon and is finally comfortable enough to let it all out. The solo track "Stranger Things Have Happened" is a ghostly tune where his vocals are accompanied merely by his own acoustic guitar and the ticking of a metronome. This album is not soft. It may be dubbed so by veteran listeners, but they're wrong.
Though not a "hard" album either, as a listener you'll float in some medium depth ocean where you know you can't touch the bottom, but you don't fear drowning. This album has a tide of it's own that is inviting for fans of "coldplays", "Incubus's" and "The Fray" who have never yet experienced a Foo Fighters album in it's entirety. If you're a Foo Fighters fan already...Especially if you've grown along with them for the last Three thousand six hundred fifty days, you should be overjoyed by such a well produced release.
