About Me

Mark Michael Patrick Feehily was born in Sligo on May 28, 1980. He is the eldest of 3 brothers, and he lives outside Sligo town with his brothers and parents. Mark's mum is called Marie, and she’s lovely. Mark's dad, Oliver, was responsible for putting in the windows in the B&B we stayed in, which apart from making me far too excited to be healthy, shows that he is good at his job. Maybe it was this amazing way with glass which prompted Mark to buy his dad a Land Rover... even though Mark seems to spend a lot of his time driving it himself. Do I detect a method in his madness? It sounds like something I would do! But a hint Mark. Buy yourself your own car. It'll save all the hassle when it comes to who gets to use the Jeep on a Saturday.

Mark went to St Patrick's when he was young, and if you visit their website, you'll see that they continue to support him to this day. Of course, it may have something to do with the fact that he's the only pupil there remotely famous, but still, it's quite sweet. There's even a couple of pics, including one which shows Mark sitting on his own at the front, wearing glasses! Bless him.

Of course, Summerhill College was the next stop, and it was there Mark met those bully, Shane and Kian, while they were all doing plays. Mark claims his favourite subjects were French and P.E. which doesn't explain the terror in his eyes every time it's his turn on Eat My Goal on SMTV. Do all boys just say P.E. to stop themselves looking 'gay'? I do wonder. Anyway, Mark fell in love with music and musicals when he went to see various productions in Sligo, including Oliver, and started taking part himself. He says he was obsessed with the film 'Grease' and watched it hundreds of times every day. Hmm... Someone didn't have much of a life... Mark also says that when he went to watch a production of 'Grease' at the Hawks Well Theatre, when he was "about ten or eleven", Shane was on stage performing, and it was partly watching Shane which affected Mark and made him want to do the same thing. It's quite sweet really, when you consider the way things have turned out now, and they're both in the same band. Mark then got his first proper taste of life on the stage in third year at school when the production of 'Grease' was staged, and Mark had a part, along with Shane and Kian. He didn't have a huge lead role, but he did get to sing, and he realized that despite his shy personality and unease sometimes in the big school, this was somewhere he felt really comfortable. He says, "All of a sudden I was doing what I wanted to do - it was just a brilliant feeling. For the first two years of school, I had so much wanted to be involved in the main line-up and now I was there and it felt incredible. That show changed everything for me and was a big turning point in my life. I had always had the feeling deep inside that I wanted to be a singer, but this really reinforced it in my mind and I loved it." We have a lot to be grateful to 'Grease' for.

Mark is a fantastic singer, something that his Westlife colleagues admit freely, Nicky even saying he'd "kill for a voice like his!" and no wonder. Mark's soulful vocals are very distinctive and bring an extra edge to the band's songs. As well as singing, he likes to have time to himself, understandable considering he has to be around people every moment of every day. That kind of thing drives me mad after a while, and Mark deals with it by getting away, wandering off. He's been known to get himself lost before flights and stress out Anto and the boys, but he never seems to learn! Mark is passionate about music, though and when the group was in LA in summer 2002, he had a brilliant time going off to small gigs and concerts, enjoying the kind of anonymity he can't get anywhere else, where Westlife is recognized. His passion shines through in his singing and performing, and as well as that, he is a genuinely nice person. He was so down-to-earth and lovely, making sure everyone got what they wanted, and it's the quality which helps to make him so likeable.
I think that Mark's the one we should watch when Westlife finish. From the signs so far, he could well be the one to do something unexpected and mad, a bit off-the-wall and crazy, and I hope whatever he decides to do, he'll do it successfully.
# Who I Want to Meet:

MARK's CONFESSIONS

* "Anything with feathers freaks me out. A bird flew into my house when I was twelve and I was really really scared. I would literally have a heart attack if that happened again."

* "I was at a party once and spotted Liam Gallagher from Oasis. I was a massive Oasis fan at the time and really wanted to meet Liam. So, I approached him and tried to speak to him, but he just told me to fuck off in front of everyone! I know I was probably the 100th person who'd come up to him that evening, but it was really disappointing and embarrassing!"

* "A long time ago, I really put my foot in it at this night club. I'd been there a while and I got chatting to this bloke from a record company. I'd been introduced to him as Tom and the whole night I was like 'Blah blah Tom, blah blah Tom....' We were getting on like a house on fire - at least I thought we were! It wasn't until he was on his way out that he said, 'By the way, my name's Frank!' I couldn't believe it! I was so embarrassed!"

* "I get really bored when we stay in hotels so I play knick-knocks, which is when you knock on someone's door and run away. I knock on all of the doors in the corridor and run round the nearest corner or into the stairwell. It's quite entertaining, but dangerous. I got caught once and was threatened with being chucked out!"

* "Before I was legally allowed a driving license, I used to drive my Dad's car up and down the driveway. One day my foot slipped on the brake and the car went smashing straight into the gate at the bottom of the drive! The car door was dented and it wouldn't open. I was really scared and then to make matters worse, I looked up and saw my younger brother running off to tell my parents! Luckily my Dad was pretty understanding. I still had to clean the house for months afterwards though!"

Mark Feehily  You make me feel funny
When you come around
Yeah that's what I found out honey
What am I doing without you
You make me feel happy
When I leave you behind
It plays on my mind now honey
What am I doing without you

Took for granted everything we had
As if I'd find someone
Who's just like you

We got a little world of our own
I'll tell you things that no one else knows
I let you in where no-one else goes
What am I doing without you
And all of the things I've been looking for
Have always been here outside of my door
And all of the time I'm looking for something new
What am I doing without you

Well I guess I'm ready
For settling down
And fooling around is over
And I swear that it's true
No buts or maybes
When I'm falling down
There's always someone who saves me
And girl it's you

Funny how life can be so surprising
I'm just realising what you do

We got a little world of our own
I'll tell you things that no one else knows
I let you in where no-one else goes
What am I doing without you
And all of the things I've been looking for
Have always been here outside of my door
And all of the time I'm looking for something new
What am I doing without you

Well it's feeling right now
So let's do it right now
Praying that some how
You will understand the way
It's feeling right now baby somehow
I won't let this slip away

We got a little world of our own
I'll tell you things that no one else knows
I let you in where no-one else goes
What am I doing without you
And all of the things I've been looking for
Have always been here outside of my door
And all of the time I'm looking for something new
What am I doing without you

Mark Feehily  Saying I Love You
Is Not The Words
I Want To Hear From You
It's Not That I Want You
Not To Say
But If You Only Knew
How Easy
It Would Be To
Show Me How You Feel
More Than Words
Is All You Have To Do
To Make It Real
Then You Wouldn't
Have To Say
That You Love Me
Cos I'd Already Know

What Would You Do
If My Heart Was Torn In Two
More Than Words To Show You Feel
That Your Love For Me Is Real
What Would You Say
If I Took Those Words Away
Then You Couldn't Make Things New
Just By Saying I Love You

It S More Than Words
It S More Than What You Say
It S The Things You Do
Oh Yeah
It S More Than Words
It S More Than What You Say
It S The Things You Do
Oh Yeah

Now That I've Tried To
Talk To You
And Make You Understand
All You Have To Do
Is Close Your Eyes
And Just Reach Out Your Hands

And Touch Me
Hold Me Close
Don't Ever Let Me Go
More Than Words
Is All I Ever
Needed You To Show
Then You Wouldn't Have To Say
That You Love Me
Cos I'd Already Know

What Would You Do
If My Heart Was Torn In Two
More Than Words To Show You Feel
That Your Love For Me Is Real
What Would You Say If I Took Those Words Away
Then You Couldn't Make Things New
Just By Saying I Love You

More Than Words
