GENEALOGY - I just help people with it if I can. I seem to have been granted a gift for finding people in the census (even hard to locate people). ********** GARDENING - The outdoor gardens are extensive enough to keep one perpetually busy, but our real focus is growing our own vegetables out on the deck. We planted them in containers and put them out there so the deer wouldn't eat everything. We've never had much success gleaning produce from a traditionally tilled and planted land garden. The deer and the squirrels have always enjoyed more of the fruits of our labors than we did. LOL ********** PAINTING - For some reason a can of paint and a bare wall holds tremendous allure for me. And I'm a stickler for having things coordinate. It makes me crazy (for example) when my mother begins decorating a room in one theme, then sees something else she likes and gets distracted and caught somewhere between the two themes. We do our best to deal with it. ********** WORKING WITH TOOLS - I had a great time a while back redesigning our balcony door. Since the door was an odd size, it required doing the project from scratch. I think I liked it all the more for that reason. It allowed me to be more creative. ********** PHOTOGRAPHY - I'm a purist. I love the shots I get using traditional film. Digital cameras just don't cut it for me. Say what you will about developing costs. In the long run, I still think it's cheaper than having to buy a computer every so many years, plus the digital camera (along with asorted lenses), plus the photo programs, plus the printers, etc., etc. I do have one digital camera, but only for sending the quick shots to relatives. It's nothing elaborate - believe me. LOL ********** SINGING - I've always loved singing. It's far superior to any radio when you're driving in the car or doing chores around the house. LOL ********** WRITING POETRY - Perhaps I'll post some here. My best experiences writing poetry always come when trying to help other people. I met a friend at the library once (Rita) who wanted to write a poem for her mother for Mother's Day. At first, she thought she didn't know what to say. The truth is she knew exactly what she wanted to say - she just didn't know how to make it rhyme. So, we worked on it together for a while and came up with the most beautiful tribute to Moms ever. It actually brought tears to our eyes. Wonderful!. ********** CANOEING - There's nothing like it in the world. I love the peace and quiet of the water first thing in the morning. And nothing beats watching its smooth, black, glassy appearance turn to liquid gold when the sun comes up over the horizon. Mmm, Mmm, Mmm. ********** CAMPING - Haven't been able to do this for a while, but I still love the peace and quiet of it all. But you have to go with the right people. ********** SEWING AND CROSSTITCH - Yeah, I like this too. My sister introduced me to the crosstitch. She does wonderful w

If you cannot pray over something and ask God to bless you in it, don't do that thing. A secret you would keep from God is a secret you should keep from your own heart.
